Tastes Like Halvah Granola

Breakfast

Halvah is a very sweet and dense confection, and from what I understand there are lots of different types - but the one I grew up eating was made of crushed sesame seeds (tahini) and honey/sugar. It was one of my favorite sweet treats growing up. I haven't been able to find it recently, and I was absolutely thrilled when I made this granola – brought me right back to my childhood! Such a delicious and comforting taste.

This is a very simple recipe, and I'm excited to share it with you! In addition to being tasty, tahini replaces the oil in this recipe, and sesame seeds are high in calcium so you can feel good about eating this!

  • 3 cups Rolled Oats
  • 1/3 cup Tahini (sesame paste)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Maple syrup
  • Preheat oven to 325 F and line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  • Place oats in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the tahini, maple syrup and vanilla. Pour wet ingredients into the oats and mix well.
  • Spread evenly on prepared pan and bake 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Let cool completely on pan before serving.
